Jailbreaking and Rooting

Jailbreaking and Rooting are very similar, they both are hacking your device. Jailbreaking is obviously for iOS and rooting is for other devices particularly Android devices.

let's start with customization. Customization is very important to lots of people. Now after jailbreaking your iOS device, you get a ton of new customizations. Such as WinterBoard, or DreamBoard. Now with DreamBoard, you get full themes that are amazing allowing you to probably get more full themes than Android. Some even make them look like an android device. But I think android has more complete and fully changing abilities threw Roms. Roms are something, that change the way your phone looks and runs. Some people prefer the themes of dreamboard over android and some like the Roms of android more. Though me personally, I like Roms and I have used both a jailbroken iOS device and an android device. I think that just about covers this section.

Next, is apps. Special apps for your hacked device are very important. Some of the better ones such as Root Uninstaller which removes the unwanted stuff that comes on your android phone making it a lot faster. Or DreamBoard(iOS) and Roms(Android) which change the way your device looks. With iOS, they actually have a special store for these apps, themes, and more. It is called Cydia. Cydia is a great store that is one of the things that android rooted devices really need. It has sections for different things, which makes it really organized and easy to find stuff. It has just about anything you could ever want for your iOS device. Android on the other hand has no special store. Some of the apps for android can be found on the Android Market, but quite of a few of those have been removed by Google or by the developers, I don’t know for sure, but I know they have gone off the market. Making it where quite often you have to search on the Internet and download onto your phone. Though Android does have one thing going for it. There is an app on the Android Market called Rom Manager it is made by CLOCKWORKMOD. It allows you to download and install roms from your device. This app even allows you to backup and restore your roms. Defiantly a great app going for rooting over jailbreaking, but it still does not replace the special store that a jailbroken devices has.

Overclocking and underclocking is also something to talk about. It can either speed up your processor and make it run a lot faster or slow it down and make the battery last a lot longer. Now something to mention is that this feature is only available with an Android device. Such as the iPhone 4, which is a 1Ghz processor, but is underclocked. Where as an Android device with a 1Ghz processor can be overclocked to 1.1Ghz or in some cases higher. One of the more popular apps to do this is SetCPU for Root Users, which allows you to overclock and underclock your android device plus a lot of extra features.

Last thing to talk about is easy of root/jailbreak. Jailbreaking is easy to use and in the latest case, you are able to just go to a website to get jailbroken. Android can be just as easy for certain devices, but a lot of devices can get quite complicated. Making iOS in general easier to hack than Android devices. Though in some case Android can be easier.

Android and iOS devices are great operating systems and offer great features after hacking. Though I found the customization to be about the same after hacking the device, the special store(Cydia) for iOS defiantly make it better for finding apps and themes which make the store in my opinion better. Overclock and Underclocking are better on a hacked Android since iOS does not offer this ability even after being hacked. iOS is easier to hack in some cases but in other harder, so they are about even there. I would say that they are about even after being jailbroken/rooted
